EBACE 2018 : Focus on Aero+ Flexibility

14-06-2018

Following a very successful Aircraft Interiors Expo earlier this year where the focus was airline solutions, Eclipse and EAD Aerospace – an Eclipse company – attended EBACE (29-31 May) in Geneva, providing insight into our Business Aviation-focused solutions.

The EBACE opening day was the perfect opportunity to announce new STCs for our Satcom Universal Mounting System (SUMS) solution for A330-200/300 and A340-200/300 families… with more to come!

As EBACE is focused on business aviation, we demonstrated Aero+ Flexibility, a new airborne network management software developed by Eclipse. Aero+ Flexibility dynamically manages bandwidth for Ka/Ku-band satcom systems, processes credit card payments for internet usage, ensures the security of the connection and optimize the IP bandwidth. This unique capability is helping our customers optimize the usage of newer, higher bandwidth Ka/Ku-band satcom systems.

During the show, Inmarsat announced their intent to deploy European Aviation Network (EAN) for the business aviation market. In addition to this, EAD Aerospace highlighted our EAN hardware solution and its associated STCs and modkits. Developed by Inmarsat and Deutsche Telekom, EAN combines satellite coverage and air-to-ground network all over the 28 pan-European countries.

Eclipse and EAD Aerospace were proud to exhibit all of these innovations which will bring the passengers and operators to a new era of connectivity and managed services !

We also would like to thank our partners, customers and friends who came at our booth for a chat (and a coffee !) : we hope to see you all again soon !

Aircraft Interiors Expo 2018 : busy days !

02-05-2018

Eclipse and EAD Aerospace, an Eclipse company, had a very busy, productive and fun three days in Hamburg, the busiest year ever for our team at this event !

The Eclipse/EAD Aerospace stand was in the IFEC Zone at Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), which is focused on the passenger entertainment and connectivity experience. We had many fruitful dialogues with airline and business aviation industry players concerning how to benefit from onboard broadband connectivity, which is today a must-have for passengers today. Of primary interest from the EAD Aerospace team was the complexities of aircraft modification and the Eclipse team addressed the end user experience on the aircraft.

Aircraft Modification :  EAD Aerospace highlighted the Satcom Universal Mounting Solution (SUMS), an STC and modkits specifically designed for the Honeywell JetWave fuselage mounted antenna which has already received multiple EASA STCs : A319, A320, A321, A330, A340, B777… and even more to come !

Passenger Experience :  Aero+ Flexibility, a modular software exclusively developed by Eclipse, also received a lot of interest due to the ability to dynamically manage bandwidth for Ka/Ka-band satcom systems, process credit card payments for internet usage, ensure the security of the connection and optimize the IP bandwidth. Of particular interest during the dialogues was the ability to customize this tool to meet the functional and aesthetic requirements of each customer.

We are very grateful to our partners, customers, new prospects and visitors who joined us in Hamburg : we look forward to moving forward all of the productive dialogues that took place !

If you want to see us at EBACE 2018, stay connected : we will publish all the details related to our presence very soon.

EAD Aerospace Achieves JetWave EASA STC on A340 with GACA validation

12-11-2017

EAD Aerospace, an Eclipse company, has delivered its first Honeywell JetWave EASA STC for an A340 VIP project in partnership with a leading Middle-Eastern MRO for an undisclosed final customer in the Middle East. This EASA STC has been validated by the GACA, the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia.

The aircraft was outfitted with a bespoke cabin connectivity VIP system and some of the latest technologies, including the fully operational Honeywell JetWave Ka-band system.

The solution provided is based on EAD Aerospace’s Satcom Universal Mounting System (SUMS) solution, which is also being used by EAD Aerospace partners for other STC projects including the A320, A330, B777 and B747 platforms for both airborne VIP and Airline connectivity.

Eclipse’s experience in providing turn-key airborne satcom solutions combined with EAD Aerospace’s long history of providing connectivity related STC’s proved invaluable in ensuring that all aspects of the first project were successfully delivered.

As one of the leading distributors of Inmarsat airtime services, Eclipse is proud to have been instrumental in enabling one of the first customers to use the Inmarsat GX Aviation network and the next generation of inflight connectivity.

EAD AEROSPACE EXPANDS SUMS STC PORTFOLIO WITH ADDITION OF B777

29-08-2017

PRESS RELEASE – Paris, France – Aug. 29, 2017

EAD Aerospace (EASA DOA PART21 FRA21 J&G), an Eclipse company, has just received an EASA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) covering the installation of its Satcom Universal Mounting System (SUMS) solution on a B777 aircraft.

Working directly with Inmarsat, EAD Aerospace developed the complete solution, produced the engineering package and received the STC within a tight timeframe, allowing the end customer, Qatar Airways, to begin the installations around regular maintenance inputs.

EAD Aerospace is very proud to have achieved this STC for Inmarsat and their end customer Qatar Airways. This ARINC 791 installation is light in weight with minimal intrusions into the fuselage, making it easy to install and maintain for airlines. SUMS is a natural fit for such a retro-fit project.” commented Marc Pinault, CEO of EAD Aerospace.

With the first installations complete, the B777 fleet roll-out continues with the ease of installation of SUMS allowing aircraft to be completed during scheduled maintenance visits without the need for extended ground-time, and with a minimum of man-hours in comparison with typical complex, large antenna installations.

The solution provides Qatar Airways with access to the Inmarsat GX Aviation service providing high-speed in-flight connectivity to the passengers via their wireless devices. Inmarsat GX Aviation utilises Ka-Band frequencies, enabling the highest data rates currently available : “With the first Qatar Airways Boeing 777 retrofit installation already complete and several more underway, we’re looking forward to seeing Qatar Airways’ passengers experience consistent, reliable and high-speed Wi-Fi in the sky when the service goes live later this year” said Leo Mondale, President of Inmarsat Aviation.

This STC adds to the family of Satcom Universal Mounting System (SUMS) STCs which EAD Aerospace has been developing since 2014. After receiving A320, A330 and now B777 series aircraft STCs, EAD Aerospace will soon receive certifications for A340 and B747 airframes.
